Tips for hiking tours

Around the lake

The tour around the Rifflsee in summer (which was redesigned in summer 2007), is easily manageable also for families (even with a pram or buggy) and elderly people. Duration approx. 1 hour.

The Rifflsee hut

A hiker’s destination! The recently renovated Rifflsee hut (2.289 m above sea level) offers comfortable rooms, a sun terrace with a wonderful view and the best of Tyrolean cuisine. Tenants are Ch. and. A. Waibl, tel. +43(0)5413 86235. Walking time from the top terminal is about 30 minutes.

Offenbach mountain trail

A recently introduced hike across the Wurmtalerkogel (3.225 m). Walking time from the Rifflsee Hut to the Taschach House is about 7 hours. The trail is well manageable.

Cottbus mountain trail

About 50 m above the Rifflsee, you will find the starting point of the Cottbus mountain trails. Only attempt this trail if you have experience in the Alps, a good mountain hiker and are not afraid of heights. The Kaunergrat Hut is reached after about 3,5 hours of walking time. Fulda mountain trail

Starting point at the Rifflsee! Take the Rifflseebahn to get to 2.300 m. The trail then covers the distance without any great changes in level. Two short, but simple points are secured with wire ropes. A fantastic tour for mountain hikers who like to enjoy mountain walks.
